Sweeney Julian gave local school age children and teenagers a jumpstart to the 2013-2014 academic year, by packing hundreds of backpacks with essential school supplies. The book bags were then donated to Hair Kutz 4Kids (HK4K), to be handed out during HK4K’s fun-filled back-to-school event that took place at Monroe Circle Community Center on August 19, 2013.
As you may have guessed, HK4K’s affair also included stylish haircuts crafted by local Barbers who provided their talent free of charge. Tasty lunches were served on the house, too! HK4K has been providing similar services in town for several years now, in order to ensure that our community’s adolescences are as prepared as they can be for the approaching school year. “When you look good, you will feel good, and when you feel good you do well” is HK4K’s motto, a motto of which was clearly reflected in the smiling youthful faces that beamed from the Barbers’ chairs.
For Sweeney Julian, there is no better way to open the area’s educational calendar than contributing to such a fantastic organization. It was wonderful to know that local youths had most of the tools they needed for that first lesson plan.
