Chiara Home, Inc.’s 6 th Annual “It’s A Polish Wedding” took place on February 8, 2014. Let’s just say that the creative fundraiser was a smash, as live polka music and savory aromas of a traditional South Bend-style Polish Wedding Buffet danced throughout Holy Family Parish Center’s hall. Wedding cake was sliced, adult beverages were poured from behind an open bar, and the Bridal Party was handpicked out of the “wedding” guests! Sweeney Julian was a proud Platinum Sponsor at this engaging event, which supported Chiara Home, Inc.’s heartfelt mission to enhance the lives of this community’s individuals with special needs.
In 1993, Sister Gretchen Clark, SSJ-TOSF and Sister Sharon Dillon, SSJ-TOSF founded Chiara Home, Inc. Since then, it has been providing respite care services to families caring for loved ones with a myriad of disabilities, of all ages. Nestled in a quaint, tranquil South Bend neighborhood, Chiara Home, Inc.’s crew has been rendering safe, caring, temporary out-of-home care in a homey atmosphere that is worlds apart from a stale institutionalized backdrop. Chiara Home, Inc. also provides cool recreational activities that are appropriate for its guests, in order to boost self-confidence and reinforce other fundamental life-skills.
Providing for loved ones with specia l needs is rewarding (to s ay the least), but it takes a bunch of hard work and dedication. That is precisely why Sweeney Julian jumped at the opportunity to sponsor such a genuine, trustworthy organization that allows fulltime caretakers to take some well deserved “me-time.”
